Christmas in Poland.

Christmas is good time for visiting your family, eating and drinking so much. The time of Christmas starts on about 1st December. People go to church for special mass at 7 o’clock. After, they decorate Christmas trees, streets and houses. People send each other Christmas cards.

Christmas Eve-24th December
This is a family day and most important day of Christmas. People rarely go to work, but shops are closed. Everybody is preparing 12 dishes almost all day. When the first star appears on the sky, the supper starts. People share wafer each other and wish all the best. Everybody have to taste all dishes, for example: carp, herrings, dumplings with cabbage, red beetroot soup, compote, cabbage with peas, cabbage with mushrooms, bean, porridge, potatoes, mushroom soup, Greek fish. After it, people open presents and they go to the church at midnight. In Poland everybody have mistletoe, because who haven’t got mistletoe, he’s bald and naked.

25th and 26th December
People rarely go to work, but shops are closed. There is no meal and the presents are not open. People go to the church for special mass. It’s good time to visit your family.

New Year’s Eve-31st December
The biggest party of the year in Poland takes place on 31st of December. People can go to a big ball, stand in the streets, go to nightclub or have a party at home. At midnight people drink champagne and wish each other all the best.
