Informal letter
Lublin25th November
Dear Lucy,
How are you? I’m sorry haven’t written for so long, but now I’m away from country and have little opportunity to write.
Certainly you have thought what I’m doing outside Poland. So, together with my close friend-Mary I have gone on a journey with an adventure, as it was said in the advertisement. For a month we will have been staying highly in the mountains, somewhere in Argentina. We live near the small village settled down by the Indian tribe. The village is very colourful; from the distance it looks like the perfectly made masterpiece. According to an old story each inhabitant believes that particular building can be put up only in the place marked out by gods. Additionally, that place is surrounded by strange species of flowers and trees in all colours of the rainbow. It’s really worth looking. Moreover the climate is a little bit tropical, that is bright sunshine connected with humid heat. Only at night there are some severe and violent storms.
Anyway, on the camp are only some people, so I can get to know them rather well during a month. As I wrote at the beginning we are staying on the campsite in the mountains, where good physical condition is required, but not all campers are fit and can walk many hours. That’s why the most difficult trips are put off. Recently, I have got to know one boy very well. His name is Johnny. We are walking together more from the rest group and make ourselves some extra treks. Maybe it’s the reason why Mary doesn’t talk to me as often as before the beginning of the journey.
One time when I and Johnny were climbing, the stones started to fall down, so that setting foot in right place in order to get higher was becoming less possible. Every little step was very dangerous. I was afraid of falling down and every time when I looked down, I become paler and weaker. Luckily, Johnny kept cool and called help by mobile phone. The helicopter with rescuers came after half an hour. I came inside that and not till then I felt save. It has been really dangerous and, of course, exciting adventure during holiday.
Moreover, there have been many funny situations, generally when we are trying to communicate with local people. We don’t know their language and vice versa. Another funny situation was when one of the companions wanted to cook the diner. Everything was getting on well, to the moment when he went to the toilet and forgot about boiling sauce, which unfortunately got overcooked. We hadn’t a diner that day. I hope Henry wouldn’t cook any more.
That’s all about from me. What about you? Write back soon, telling me what you’ve been doing recently.
Best wishes,
